319 a street bench

 

Project Statement:

 319 A Street was constructed in 1913 by the Boston Wharf Company for the Kistler Leather Co. The building has recently been converted to condominiums requiring  removal of solid heart pine beams  for a new elevator shaft . I was commissioned to design  and fabricate four benches for each of the elevator lobbies. I decided to use the beams both as material and proportion for the wood slats
